About the Cover

The AMA Nats builds upon not only the history of this competition, but also upon the future of model aviation. Vintage aircraft meet the latest advancements in aeromodeling, ensuring that all modeling disciplines are represented.
The theme of our Nats coverage this year is "summer camp"—a similar experience to those of your childhood, with old and new friends in the great outdoors.
Twelve-year-old Lee Atchison (Louisville KY) brought his Supra with which to compete against his peers, but don't let his youth fool you; he has been flying for a solid four years. Lee is lucky to have every generation in modern aviation history there for his support. Jay Smith photo.
Inset: Leaping into another chapter in aviation history, 18-year-old Cody Secor (Chino Hills CA) launches his F1P model in the round that captured him his second Junior FF World Championships title. Randy Secor photo.
